The Community Champion Award recognizes an individual (staff, faculty, student or community member) who exemplifies community leadership by demonstrating the best of volunteerism, character, leadership and a sense of caring and responsibility for others. These individuals go above and beyond to be good role models for the external or College community. Nominations should fall into one of the following categories:
- Supporting the external community: Nominate a staff or faculty member or a student who demonstrates the best of volunteerism, character, leadership and a sense of caring and responsibility to an external community organization.
- Supporting Tri-C students/student success: Nominate an external community member who demonstrates the best of volunteerism, character, leadership and a sense of caring and responsibility to support the College or its students.
Attach a typed, double-spaced essay of 500 words or less, explaining why you believe your nominee should be considered for a Community Champion Award. Please include the following in your essay narrative:
Description of Volunteer Service: Detail your nominee’s volunteer work and describe their activities. How long and how often has the nominee performed this service? Include supporting documentation from the organization(s) where the nominee volunteers. The more information about their impact on the College and the community, the better.
Impact of Volunteer Service: Document how the service has impacted Tri-C, its students and/or the community.
A photograph of the nominee is not required but is encouraged with the application.
