Adjunct Development and Professional Training (ADAPT) Program Workshop Eligibility Request Form

 * fields are required

The Adjunct Development and Professional Training (ADAPT) program enhances teaching effectiveness through events and workshops focused on:

  • New teaching strategies
  • Emerging educational technologies
  • Other instructional improvement topics

Adjuncts are eligible to receive a $500 stipend after completing 10 Stipend Eligible Units (SEUs) through Tri-C. Recognizing that valuable professional development can also occur outside the College, this form must be completed and approved prior to attending any external workshop for it to be considered stipend-eligible. Once submitted, the Adjunct Services office will review the request and notify you of the decision.

Adjunct Stipend Criteria

To be eligible, the workshop must:

  1. Relate to professional development that improves student learning and success, teaching effectiveness or academic discipline expertise
  2. Include measurable learning objectives
  3. Be open to adjuncts in the relevant department or discipline Collegewide
  4. Be a minimum of 1 hour in length to qualify for 1 SEU
  5. Include proof of attendance (certificate or receipt) upon completion

Examples of eligible workshops include:

  • Training in discipline-specific software, hardware or lab procedures
  • Department or discipline meetings that include professional-development content
  • Sessions focused on changes to accreditation or licensure guidelines
  • Workshops on new technologies or pedagogical strategies relevant to a specific discipline
  • Developmental math/English instructional strategies

Note: Meetings that are primarily informational or administrative are not eligible. SEUs are awarded based on content and learning outcomes — not workshop duration alone. Multi-day or full-day workshops may be considered for additional SEUs.

Volunteer Opportunities for SEUs
While the core focus of the stipend is professional development through workshops, recent programs (like ADAPT Track III) suggest that certain structured, campus-based volunteer or service roles may qualify for SEUs under the College, Campus, and Community Impact category.

How volunteer activities may become stipend-eligible:

  1. Direct College Service: Structured service roles such as committee work, student support, or campus service that contribute to the college's mission and are part of a recognized professional development track (like ADAPT) can count toward SEUs.
  1. Professional Development Focus: If a volunteer role or activity outside the college is structured as a workshop, training, or sustained professional development effort that meets the adjunct stipend criteria (especially relating to improving student success, teaching, or academic expertise), it may be approved for SEUs through the external workshop approval process.

Action Required for Volunteer Opportunities: To ensure a volunteer or service activity is eligible, you must confirm it is on the current SEU-eligible activities list or complete and receive approval for the ADAPT Program Workshop Eligibility Request Form prior to participation.

Workshop Survey Requirement

To support continuous improvement of the Adjunct Stipend program, all approved workshops must use the Faculty Development Survey to collect participant feedback.
